Is the Bachaloria free? Fees and what a second sitting costs

The Egyptian Bachaloria is free by law, and the first exam sitting costs nothing. A second sitting costs up to 200 EGP per subject, with a ceiling of 400 EGP per subject.

The short answer

  • The system is free: Law 169 of 2025 describes the Bachaloria as "an optional, free system".
  • The first exam sitting: free.
  • Later sittings: a fee of no more than 200 EGP each time, up to a maximum of 400 EGP per subject.

The minister's decision of August 2026 set the second sitting at 200 EGP per subject.

So what will you actually pay?

  • If you only sit the first attempt in every subject: nothing.
  • A second sitting in one subject: 200 EGP.
  • In three subjects: 600 EGP.

Why charge for the second sitting?

So that it is a real choice, not a "just in case" retake in every subject. The idea is to use it in the subject where you can genuinely improve. When to sit the second time

Other things that are free

  • Textbooks: from the ministry's e-library. Where to download them
  • Financial Culture: students who complete its requirements get an account on the stock exchange, and Al-Ahram reported 500 EGP per student. Details

And studying?

School is the foundation. If you want extra teaching, the first five videos of every subject on GoBachaloria are free, and after that you unlock a subject with a code, no card needed.
