One system, three years
The New Egyptian Bachaloria (البكالوريا المصرية) is the secondary-school system that started replacing Thanaweya Amma in 2025/26, one year at a time. The first year is common to everyone; from the second year a student picks a track and the subjects follow it. Marks are earned across the years rather than in one final exam, and a subject can be re-sat.
The four tracks
- Medicine and life sciences — biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics lead.
- Engineering and computer science — mathematics, physics and programming lead.
- Business — mathematics, economics and statistics lead.
- Arts and humanities — history, geography, philosophy and languages lead.
The common subjects — Arabic, the first foreign language, religion and the national subjects — stay with every track.
What this means for studying
Because marks accumulate, the first year counts. Watching a lesson the week it is taught, doing the homework and sitting the term exam is the whole method. On GoBachaloria every subject has several teachers; the first five videos of each are free, so you compare and then unlock one with a code.
