The short answer
Arabic is a common second-year Bachaloria subject: every student on all four tracks takes it, and its mark out of 100 counts towards the 600 total. That makes it one sixth of your total whatever your track.
Why it matters
- It is common to every track, so there is no avoiding it.
- It is the language of your essay answers in most subjects. The better you write Arabic, the better your answers in History, Psychology and Geography.
- Its marks can be reliable if you study it properly, which lifts your total.

How to study it
- Grammar through practice, not memory: parse sentences from the set texts themselves.
- Read good Arabic for ten minutes a day.
- Write a short piece every week and ask your teacher to mark it.
- Set texts: understand the meaning and the imagery first, then memorise.
