The short answer
From 2026/27, students in the second and third Bachaloria years must complete 60% of the weekly and monthly assessments in each subject in order to sit the first exam attempt.
How are the assessments split?
Each subject has 100 assessment marks:
- Student project: 15 (how to do it)
- Weekly assessment: 20
- Homework and class participation: 15
- Behaviour and attendance: 10
- First monthly assessment: 20
- Second monthly assessment: 20
What does this mean in practice?
- Attendance now matters. Attendance, participation and the weekly assessment all happen at school.
- No "I'll study at the end of the year". The assessments come every week and every month.
- 60% is not hard if you keep up. What is hard is catching up once you fall behind.
Five tips to reach 60% and more
- Don't miss school without a reason. Behaviour and attendance are 10 marks there for the taking.
- Hand homework in on time. 15 marks.
- Study each week's lesson that week. The weekly assessment is worth 20.
- Start the project early. Nobody earns 15 marks the night before.
- Revise before each monthly assessment. They are worth 40 marks between them.
