Where is Chemistry in the Bachaloria?
- First year: part of Integrated Science for everyone.
- Second year: an optional specialised subject on the Engineering and Computer Science track (instead of Programming).
- Third year: Chemistry (advanced) on the Medicine and Life Sciences track, alongside advanced Biology.
The gap to watch out for
Medicine students do not study Chemistry in the second year. Their second-year specialised subject is Physics or Maths, and in the third year they meet advanced Chemistry, which is half of that year's total. And an Engineering student who chose Chemistry in the second year does not carry it on into the third.
So what should you do?
- Know where it sits on your track before choosing. The four tracks
- If you will meet it in the third year at an advanced level without studying it in the second, revise its basics yourself during the second year, even an hour a week.
- If it is your second-year specialised subject, that is 100 marks. Keep up week by week.
