First-year Bachaloria subjects: six core subjects and three extra

The short answer

In the first year of the Bachaloria you study:

Core subjects

Arabic
First foreign language
History
Maths
Integrated Science
Philosophy and Logic

Outside the total

Programming & AI: pass or fail, with 50 out of 100 to pass. Details
A second foreign language
Religious Education: pass or fail, with at least 70% needed.

Does the first year count towards the total?

No. The first year is a preparatory year, and its marks do not count towards the Bachaloria certificate. The whole total (600) comes from the second and third years. Read the first year is preparatory: what that means.

So why study hard?

You must pass to move up to the second year.
These subjects are the foundation for what comes next: Maths and Integrated Science feed Medicine and Engineering, while History and Arabic continue into the second year on every track.
