When do you decide?
You choose your track as you enter the second year, after the shared preparatory first year. There are four: Medicine and Life Sciences, Engineering and Computer Science, Business, and Arts and Humanities. All four in one table.
Six questions to ask yourself
- Which subjects do you study without anyone pushing you? That is your best signal. Look at your first-year marks and how you felt about each subject.
- Which track is the faculty you have in mind on? If you have a clear goal, start there and work backwards.
- Do you prefer memorising, solving or writing? Medicine mixes memory and understanding, Engineering is problem-solving, Business is numbers and application, and Arts is writing and analysis.
- Can you handle the track's two third-year subjects? Look at the third-year subjects when you choose, not just the second. Engineering's third year, for example, is advanced Maths and Physics.
- Which specialised subject will you pick in the second year? Each track offers a choice of two. That choice matters.
- Is it your choice or someone else's? Listen to your family and teachers, but you are the one who will study for three years.

What if I change my mind later?
The ministry has left a door open: you can change track after the second year, provided you study the new track's specialised subject you have not taken. Details in changing track in the Bachaloria. So the decision matters, but it is not final.
